Speakers

Alexander Izotov is a project researcher in the Karelian Institute, University of Eastern Finland. Izotov is doctoral student in human geography and his doctoral thesis is dedicated to local identity construction in Soviet and post-Soviet Sortavala.

Samu Aarnio is working as a Lecturer in Design at the North Karelia University of Applied Sciences. He is also working on a photograph/research book. The theme of the book is related to functionalism in both North Karelia and Russian Karelia, The book will be published in 2015.

Olga Davydova-Minguet  is a project researcher in the Karelian Institute, University of Eastern Finland.

Sonja Kortelainen is working as a project manager in a Karelia ENPI CBC project Mediation in progress in Aducate – Centre for Training and Development in the University of Eastern Finland

Sofia Tšadrantseva is the director of the Center for psychological, medical and social support in Sortavala region. The center is responsible for mediation services in Sortavala.

– 125 EUR,  with 20 participants

– 100 EUR,  with 30 participants

–  A single room supplement is 8 EUR

Includes:  round trip, accomodation, supper and breakfast.

Visa for Russia is NOT included in the price.

Visa for Russia

Participants are responsible for obtaining their own visas. If you are not a Finnish citizen and you need assistance to arrange a visa for Russia, please contact the conference secretary Iiris Lehto (iiris.lehto (at) uef.fi) immediately.

Finnish citizens can obtain a visa by using one of the travel agents that are specialized for Russian travel or through companies that specialize in Russian visas. One of these companies is called Karjalan viisumit Inc. If you use their services, the cost of the tourist visa for one trip is 80 euros and the processing of visa application takes minimum 6 working day + time required for posting. If you use Karjalan viisumit, the visa application is filled in on-line. More information: http://www.karjalanviisumit.fi/ You can also apply for a visa independently through Visa Application Service Centres operated by VF Services used by the Federation of Russia. They have offices in Helsinki, Turku, Lappeenranta and Marienhamn. The cost of the visa is less but you need to have your own visa invitation. You can obtain a visa invitation (authorization) trough a travel agency Karelika, which operates from Petrozavodsk.
